Hey Jeremy, Oh wow, you have a good memory! Well, it’s nice to be learning from you again ? To be honest, the fillet-excluded color has always confused me a bit. The only thing colored in the fillet area of my chip capacitor when I look at my fillet-excluded colors is the red reflection, which is why I’m assuming it thinks there’s a lack of solder…is that what you mean? I have in my notes from class to never change the fillet-excluded color to alter judgment, but I’ll try the land error judgement and see what that does. And thanks haha I’m glad it was clear what I’m seeing from the paint talents. Best, Candice Piccione (she/her) Technician IV- Electrical Space & Mission Systems BAE Systems, Inc. Candi, Of course I remember you and Ron! I want to verify 100% that no fillet-excluded color is being utilized here. If it is not, and the secondary reflection creates 0% connection block height a large percentage of the time, we need to look at alternative ways to judge the solder joints. Land Error can be used to validate the presence of blue in the right location to ignore the presence of the reflection in the middle. This becomes somewhat of a custom inspection, and may require multiple Land Error tests to ensure repeatability in solder joint confirmation. I would have to disagree on the crudeness of your drawing. I find it quite professional ? Best regards, Jeremy [This is Jeremy Orbach's card. Learn why this is important Good morning, Jeremy, You probably don’t remember Ron Benally and I from April of 2024, but you taught us all we know about the AOI! You were our instructor; hope you’re doing well. Thanks for the advice on fine tuning the global colors, that did help with other extractions but didn’t solve my chip capacitor issue. Unfortunately, I’m not able to send photos, or rather, it would take weeks to get them to you. So, I drew you a very crude drawing of what I’m seeing even though it probably won’t help at all haha Our software version is Ver.3.03.00C Rev. 126727. Can you please provide a screenshot or two of the issue? Normally you need to erase the board color from solder bridge / ball global colors to prevent false calls related to these. You also need to ensure that exposed land color does not include the color of the board. Can you please also identify the version of software you are using? It should say in the bottom corner of v-TS. I’m copying Technical Support for assistance. Good evening! I'm writing a recipe for a circuit board panel on our AOI vt-s730 and running into issues with red reflections in my chip capacitor solder joints from close-by components. They keep causing false calls because the AOI thinks the red reflection in the solder is a 'low fillet' (connection block height and max height under the fillet inspection both read 0%). I know I'm not supposed to alter the global 'fillet-excluded color' so I was wondering if you had any suggestions about how to correct this false call? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Candi, This is exactly what I mean. If the color that secondarily reflects from the other part creates a red coloration in the middle of the fillet, this color must be erased from the Fillet-Excluded Colors. Otherwise the system will ignore the fillet there and throw a 0 connection block height. What happens if you clear the color from Fillet Excluded Colors? Does everything start working more effectively? Please save the program before you test this. Best regards, Jeremy [This is Jeremy Orbach's card.
