Hello All, In early September we shipped out a Hamamatsu x-ray source tube from X750-0391 for analysis by the manufacturer, which was stated to have up to a 2 month analysis process time. Following up on the results of the analysis. They would like to ship the X-ray tube to the factory for further analysis. In the meantime, Omron Japan will send us a loaner unit, which we will install and calibrate under warranty to keep the system running while the analysis is in progress. The analysis process time for the original X-ray source may take up to two months due to import/export processes. Once we receive it back, Omron will swap the units again and perform a final calibration. We will share more details on the timeline as soon as the loaner unit is in transit from Japan. I decided to restart the machine which is a method we have used several times only now it seems to try to launch a different software version and errors out for x-ray source status. After trying this several times, I tried to launch CF-Maintenance to try to warm up manually and was met with an error that there was an issue with the NWIN.INI file. When I opened the NWIN.INI file, I found that the document is empty. I have attached an image of the software version that it was trying to launch and an image of the NWIN.INI file empty. I am also uploading log files to filexchange which can be found here: [email] Please note that we have not applied the software change to this machine, as far as I know there have been no changes made here. We urgently need support on this to get this machine back into operation. Is there someone available today for phone support to troubleshoot this with me? Presently, our stance on Hamamatsu tubes is that they are more reliable and longer lasting than the Canon option. The history of our existing install base over the past decade backs up this claim. Hamamatsu tubes themselves are not the issue, but the conversion process clearly has some weak points. Our advice is to remain with this tube type. As I mentioned earlier, it would be best to separate the issues you are seeing into distinct requests. I will summarize what we know for now: 1. Extended Warmup Cycle: This issue is new, and I have escalated it to Japan for support. At the moment, we don't suspect any issue with the new tubes. 2. Failure to create Teaching Image Data: As I mentioned before, this is a bug with your software version. Japan has promised to create a special patch to fix the bug within your custom version of 6.05.00A, since upgrading to a new version and keeping your custom logic would require a longer development overhaul. I will push Japan for updates on this timeline. 3. Failure to perform Test Running: I don't have any collected files or an Inquiry on this issue, but I do remember hearing about it over email before. Again, keeping each big issue in a separate email request will help keep this organized. I will create a new chain to track this issue. Regards, [Image removed by sender. We are experiencing these issues when the machine is powered on first thing in the morning and automatically enters its warm-up cycle. We experienced this again this morning but this time it occurred on machine 0575 which is the one that was just converted to the Hama tube last week. In this case we have been unable to get the machine to finish it's warm up cycle and we have lost half of a shift. The machine was running all day yesterday for production and was powered off at the end of the night. When the machine was powered on this morning it failed to complete its warm-up cycle, and the operator powered the machine off again after almost an hour to try to reset. This was repeated several times without success for about two hours until I attempted to manually warm-up from CF_MAINTENENCE. I've uploaded the log files from this machine to our supplier portal. I'm also working on uploading a video of the warm-up cycle in CF-MAINTENANCE which took 2 hours to complete. [email] I think this justifies that the issues we are experiencing are related to the Hamamatsu tubes themselves and are not the result of misuse. There are several open issues in other threads that we began encountered after converting to Hamamatsu which I want to reiterate here. * Extended warm-up cycle: This is the most painful issue and impacts our production the most. The opportunity cost we are losing while waiting for these machines to warm up and the time spent troubleshooting is significant, we need to find a solution to this ASAP. * Failure to create image teaching data due to resolution: We were taught an ad-hoc solution to this by temporarily changing a value in the NWIN.INI config file when creating new programs, though we cannot accept this solution long term. * Failure to perform test-running: We have been unable to use the test running feature on 2/3 of the machines converted to Hamamatsu while in teaching mode, this limits our ability to reduce false calls effectively and export measurement files which we rely on for FAIR collection. I am not comfortable asking operators to follow ad-hoc procedures as work arounds to the nominal process. There is too much risk involved having operators manipulate config files and or warming up from CF-MAINTENENCE. We need to find a resolution to these things quickly. Basically, this is what I'm seeing: 1. 6/28 evening: Operator finishes inspection, leaves machine in Waiting for Next PCB 2. 6/30 morning: Operator sees machine still in Inspection Mode and waiting, Operator clicks "Cancel", then "Continue Inspection" 3. Machine attempts to begin Inspection while skipping Warm Up 4. Machine wastes a few seconds carrying in the PCB, capturing Fids and Z lasers, before throwing an error because Warmup is needed to turn on the X-ray tube 5. Operator shuts down machine and reboots I think the most important thing here is to know that leaving the machine in the middle of Inspection (waiting for PCB) and then attempting to continue the run first thing Monday morning causes a confusion for the machine and makes it attempt to skip Warmup. I would advise this: 1. First thing in the morning, exit to the Main Menu if the machine is in the Waiting for PCB state. 2. After trying to load any program, the machine will execute warmup process normally. Regards, [Image removed by sender. This is Brian Andersen's card. In fact, there's a chance a new time slot may open up next week. I'll know by this afternoon. If that happens, would you still be open to proceeding next week? -Francisco [This is Francisco Villalpando's card. I believe that this is occurring on Monday mornings when the machines have been off over the weekend but this last weekend, we had the machines warmed up both on Saturday and Sunday. I plan to verify the warmup from CF-MAINTENANCE this coming Monday. Regarding the Hama conversion in 0575, can we still schedule this service for the week of 6/16? Let me know if we should start another thread for scheduling this service. Please verify that warmup is the real issue by exiting the software next morning and executing warmup from CF-MAINTENANCE->Basic Operation menu. This will allow you watch the Voltage and Current values climb on screen. Normally, voltage and current rise in increments, stopping at distinct values for a few minutes at a time. This is the machine that we converted first at the beginning of the year. Thanks for sharing availability for the conversation, we do want to schedule the Hama conversion on machine 0575 in the coming weeks, I will discuss scheduling with the team and get back to you. I believe the tube has already delivered (please confirm), so we will ship the conversion kit to you from the office. We have availability for the conversion in the weeks of 6/16 or 6/23. Do either of those work for you? Regards, [Image removed by sender. This is Brian Andersen's card. Almost daily, technicians will wait over an hour for the machine to finish warming up in the morning and then end up turning the machine off and back on via the main power switch. After restarting the machine, it will usually be able to finish the warmup cycle in a more reasonable time. This is occurring almost every morning around 5:30am. I would like to understand what initially prevents the machine from finishing its warmup cycle and if it is something that can be resolved. Log files and Config files are uploaded to filexchange. Hi Kyle. Happy New Year and sorry for the delay. We have been waiting on investigation results from Hamamatsu. Please see updates on their analysis below. After replacing the insulating oil, Hamamatsu performed the following operational checks: - Continuous operation check (130kV-300μA for 48 hours) - ON/OFF operation check (130kV-300μA, 5-minute ON/OFF cycles for 48 hours) These tests were successful and Hamamatsu concluded that performance is normal. At this point, we are waiting for Hamamatsu and Omron-Japan to send the source back to the Omron-Americas team. Once received, we will reach-out and schedule a service visit to replace your temporary/loaner source with this verified unit. With your help, we will monitor operation of the equipment for 2-weeks before returning the temporary/loaner source back to Omron-Japan. Regards. [This is Brad Ward's card.
