Customer issue

Michael Tufts : Good evening Saqib, My technician had the situation occur again. Once hearing about this I instructed him to collect the file you requested. Please see the attached file. Additionally, I have a clearance issue with loading a board directly from the printer due to components hanging from the underside. I was under the impression that the machine was still collecting data even when loading boards manually, but my technician who trained with Tony informed me that it does not collect data and send it to the server when doing a manual inspection. Is this the case? Because if not then I have another situation of data not being transferred to the server. So I have four questions: Is there a way to change the feed direction of the machine so that it expects boards from the side where they normally exit? Once the board has been inspected when feeding from the opposite side is there a way to make it release back out the same side? After Omron has had the opportunity to review this data in the attached zip folder how long will it take for your team to make a determination as to whether this is a harness issue? If this is a hardware issue how long will it take to get a technician out here to perform the repair as this machine is still under warranty and I’d like to fix it as soon as possible. Let me know your thoughts on this and if you’d like to call me directly my number is [phone]. Sincerely, Michael W. If the “no device” error occurs before I have arrived for the day, please press SHIFT+F4 and save that log file so that I can send it to the team here at Omron. Sincerely, Michael W. Would please give me a favor and press SHIFT+F4 when the SPI error out for 'Device Error'. This will generate log files, please send the lig file to us and we can look for the problem. Thanks for all the help. Best Regards On Thu, 18 Dec at 10:58 AM, Michael Tufts wrote: Thank you very much for your input Saqib! I really appreciate it. And as far as the other issue goes with the “no device” error, thank you for pointing out that I have been accidentally unplugging the incorrect USB to try and resolve that issue. With that in my I’ll try that next time it occurs. If it doesn’t resolve the issue though I’d really like to discuss next steps in terms of replacing the wire or harness that is causing this issue. The machine as I stated is still under warranty, so I want to move quickly on this. If you could please provide those part numbers today for replacement wire or harness. There was a one-hour time difference between the SPI and the server. That may have caused some data to not show up on the Q-Up Navi. Here are some troubleshooting tips if there is no data on the Q-Up Navi: 1- Please check the connection between SPI and server. 2- The SPI should be able to connect to\\server_IP\sharedata\PoutPut folder. 3- If step 1 and 2 are good then please if there are no files are accumulating\\server\sharedata\PoutPut\InspectionImageMess\_postmessage9 folder. If there are some files on this folder then please restart the CKDConvertServices on the server. 4- If restarting does not help then please then please restart server. Please let me know if you have any questions. Hello Michael, I do not see any logs attached to the email. Please send the serial number of the machine with device error and collect the log when the device error occurs. Please see the answer to your questions below: Is there a way to change the feed direction of the machine so that it expects boards from the side where they normally exit? Yes, we can change the direction of the conveyor. Once the board has been inspected when feeding from the opposite side is there a way to make it release back out the same side? No, that cannot be done since SPI is designed for in-line operation. After Omron has had the opportunity to review this data in the attached zip folder how long will it take for your team to make a determination as to whether this is a harness issue? We will look at the log file and try to determine the problem from the log file, it may need more investigation. If this is a hardware issue how long will it take to get a technician out here to perform the repair as this machine is still under warranty and I’d like to fix it as soon as possible. We will have to schedule replacement needed. It will be highly unlikely that we will have to change the cables but there is always possibility. Please let us know if you have any questions. Best Regards

Omron team, Just to be sure, I'll add one comment. To save the inspection data when performing the Manual inspection with SPI, you can check the "Manual insp result output" item. I’ve reattached the logs. Maybe your system filtered the attachment out of the email? Please let me know if you’ve received these files, if not I may need to find an alternate way to get these log files to you. Serial number for the machine is: M-67601 I’ve CC’d my coworker for visibility to this matter. So to reiterate the points you’ve made. We can have it feed into the machine from the opposite side, but there is no way to then have it eject the board from the same side. So back to one of my original questions that I did not see an answer to: When inserting boards into the machine manually and inspecting the boards manually, the data is not output to the server? This is the information I was given by my line operator and I need to know whether or not this is true. Sincerely, Michael W. Tufts BGM Engineering

Good afternoon, Do we have an update on this? Did you receive the log files I sent over? Or did you not receive the files again. Sincerely, Michael W. Tufts BGM Engineering

Hello Michael, Judging from the current situation and looking at the logs, there seems to be no problem with the cable itself, and the problem only occurs when communicating with the light control board when the software is launched. Turn OFF the machine power and unplug the CN7111 cable connected to the PC. Check for any debris on the connector and clean it, then connect it to a USB port other than the current one to see if that improves the situation. If that does not improve the situation, remove the CN1 connector on the back of the light control board behind the camera and check that there is no dirt or other debris on the terminals, clean them, and then reattach the CN1 connector to see if that improves the situation. Please let us know if this helps. Best Regards

Good afternoon Omron team, That seemed to fix the issue with the no device error. It has not happened for the past few days so I appreciate the response on that. Back to my other question which I need an answer to: We have a clearance issue with a board entering the machine normally, but not when exiting the machine so we are manually inserting the boards for inspection. This data is not appearing in QUPNAVI after manual inspection. My operator informed me that data from manually inserted/inspected boards will not appear in QUPNAVI. Why is this occurring and is there something we can do to make it so that this data is tracked? Otherwise we’re losing data which is critical to us improving our processes. Sincerely, Michael W. Hello Michael, Is just a simple setting, on the machine Menu go to Machine Setting, line operation setting and check the box "Output the inspection Data" (see below screenshot) Francisco Villalpando Engineering Supervisor Direct: +[phone] [email]

I don’t see this setting on the machine itself. Is this located within VDB? If you could please give me a quick call at [phone]. I think this is something we can resolve quickly. Sincerely, Michael W. Tufts BGM Engineering

Is it this setting? I found it on the Function/Setting page for the SPI and there’s a checkbox labeled “Manual Insp result Output”. If this is the correct setting. Can I set this to save locally or output this to a shared folder on the Omron server that we have set up? I can verify functionality from there if you can tell me that I’ve found the correct setting. Hello Michael, I apologies, I thought it was an AOI issue but you are right, the option you enabled is the one for saving result when you inspect a board in manual mode Francisco Villalpando Engineering Supervisor Direct: +[phone] [email]

That's good news! * Where do these files output to when we perform the manual inspection? * Can we set these to a shared drive on our server so that we can still have the files available there? * Do I need to have the operators swap this option on an off when swapping between the side of the board that will go in automatically vs the side of the board that requires us to send the board in manually? * I don't believe that is the case based on the naming of the option chosen, but I just want to verify with you that my assumption is correct. "Manual Insp result Output" in my mind would mean that for regular inspections it outputs the data as expected to QUP and then for manual inspections it probably saves locally. Am I correct? Hello Michael, When the Manual Output option is enabled, the software saves inspection files to the same location used in Auto mode (the QUP Navi server). You do not need to turn this option on or off each time you switch between automatic and manual inspections. This option exists primarily for cases where a dummy or golden board must be inspected and you do not want the results sent to QUP Navi, in order to avoid affecting production yield rates. Francisco Villalpando Engineering Supervisor Direct: +[phone] [email]
