Hi Omron Team, I have a question on what is the best way to handle X outs when your forced to use a PCB with X outs for your master bare board image and master PCB assembly inspection image. See screenshot below. This is a 63 up panel. Nine columns by seven rows. The 2nd to last PCB block in the bottom right corner is a X-OUT and covered in black marker ink so that may mess up land extraction and it's also not being assembled will be DNP. We are only building 1 panel and only been provided this 1 "incomplete" panel since there is 1 X out. What would be the best way to handle this? Will it effect programming. some ideas I have is program it, and then delete out that block. But later on we may build these again without X-OUT or X-OUT in different positions. And PCBs are too small for stickers on the individual blocks as you can see. [email]

Hello Rob, How do you normally create your programs? Most of customers create it using as reference only first block and then copy to others. As you know our software doesn’t consider X-Out when it exists on the bare board only on the populated board.

Yes correct. Long as the bottom left most PCB is not an X out. Programming the components and land extraction should be ok for block 1. We were trained to use bottom left then step and repeat. What I am wondering. Once I release the program the AOI will call out that X out block as all errors every component since they will be DNP. Is there any way to temporarily skip out that X out? Or should I just let it call out and make the AOI operator and review aware this time around? 2nd question would be, when I get a full PCB no X outs say a month from now. Will there be any issue with extra error callouts on that specific X out block since it has the black marker on the bare board? Should I just go to the block AFTER copy blocks step n repeat and just manually make sure the lands extracted ok. Part 2 of question 2 would be. Does the software extract each land from each block in the panel individually? So 64 times in this case. Or…are the lands extracted 1 time from my single up mount data 1st master block then step and repeat all same as PCB block 1? If that’s the case. Then Yes I should not have an issue just program as is and leave alone.

Hello Rob, 1.- Yes, and perhaps you already know, you can do it using bad marks, you can skip inspection from a specific block. 2 & 3.-When you create a program it does extract land size only on the block you are taking as reference, when you copy and repeat it just literally copy and paste does not extract lands. Feel free to make destructive test in your programs, it wont affect other if you don't save changes!

Thank you I am all set now. Because the AOI Land extraction only matters on my 1st root PCB block after importing single up mount data then gets copied to all other PCB blocks in the panel during step and repeat then its not as big of an issue as I thought. Other than some false calls I will just let AOI operator know ignore that block. And yes I know I wish we had room for stickers on these PCB very tight and tiny. Thank you again.
