Eric, Excuse my lack of knowledge, but how do customers utilize the API license if we can’t connect to the network to communicate with our server? If a meeting makes more sense with the appropriate personnel on my side let me know. Thanks, From: [email] Sent: Friday, June 19, 2026 6:50 AM To: John Mollett ; [email] Cc: Simon Menz ; [email] [email] Subject: (EXTERNAL - Non Basler Source) Re: (EXTERNAL - Non Basler Source) Re: RE: Questions on OMRON software [Case: 1731907] EXTERNAL EMAIL - Non Basler Source: Please use proper judgement and caution before opening attachments, clicking links, or responding to this email. Hi John, Omron's position is that we do not recommend Windows updates. We have no control over Windows, so we can't really guarantee performance on recent Windows versions that we haven't been able to test with yet. It sometimes can happen that a new Windows update may interrupt communication or performance, or even stop machines from functioning. This is why we ask that customers ideally keep the machines isolated on their own network. If IT absolutely insists that the machines go on the domain, Omron should be consulted to ensure machine functionality is kept. We also ask that you please take care when pushing updates to the machines and ask if a certain version is compatible before implementing it. If you like, please feel free to reach out, and we can schedule a technical session to review in more detail. Thanks! Best Regards, Eric McElmurry [This is Eric McElmurry's card. Can you also confirm that Omron software will have no issues with anti-virus software or windows updates? We don’t have the machine currently connected to our domain which has us questioning if we were advised not to due to potential issues. Hi John, Thanks for your patience. I can confirm that all you need is network access to the Omron server. The API license happens within the database. It allows you to unlock the Omron database in the server for all the queries you want to set up. No dongles or anything. Best Regards, Eric McElmurry [This is Eric McElmurry's card. Hi John, Please see the attached quote for the API factory license. I've also attached an intro to the API license. Lastly, I've included the terms of use & confidentiality agreement that needs to be signed to access the Oracle database. Thanks! Best Regards, Eric McElmurry [This is Eric McElmurry's card. Hello Chris, See below answers 1. Can their software integrate with Labview? LabVIEW includes powerful features for reading CSV files and even making API calls, so the answer is yes , it can definitely handle that. However, a LabVIEW expert would still need to decode and interpret the specific file formats generated by the machine in order to integrate them properly into their own system. 2. Is there any method that third party software can initiate a hard gate stop at the AOI if we have a threshold limit or other programmed event that can interface with the OMRON and stop the process? Yes, it’s possible, but it will require an I/O interface on the third‑party side. This could be as simple as interrupting a SMEMA signal, or you could use the AOI’s built‑in interlock signal for that purpose. The AOI also has its own line‑stop options available, see the screenshot below. Can we export data into a third party database like Oracle or Excel? AOI software is able to export a CSV file per inspected board with pass fail information. 2. Can the software can initiate a batch file (script) for pass/fail of each pcb to then use in our internal logic to prevent shipping failed product. ? It can create a CSV file with PASS/Fail information Francisco Villalpando Engineering Supervisor Direct: +[phone] [email] On Fri, 27 Mar at 8:22 AM , Eric McElmurry > wrote: Hi Chris, Thanks for your message. Hi John, No problem, that is a good question. The API license itself does not require internet access. The license is applied on the Omron database/server side, and the API communication would take place over your local network. The key requirement is that the device or software making the API requests must have network access to the Omron AOI/vDB server. For example, if the AOI system is on an isolated internal production network, the API client would either need to be located on that same network, or your IT team would need to allow controlled communication between the required internal network and the Omron server. If the AOI network is intentionally firewalled off from the rest of the company network, then IT may be able to create a specific firewall/routing rule to allow only the necessary traffic to the Omron server. However, if the AOI system is truly standalone/air-gapped with no connection to your internal network at all, then an outside system would not be able to communicate with the API unless some type of controlled network connection is added. Best Regards,
