Customer issue
Dear OMRON Technical Support Team, I am writing to request urgent technical assistance regarding a recurring error on our AOI inspection machine installed in our new SMT production line, in Katolec Guanajuato, The machine stops during inspection showing the message: "An illumination error has been detected." with error code 0x0280400A. To restore it, we have to power off the machine after the error happens, but the error keeps show again after a few PCBs, causing a lot of downtime on the new line. Could you tell us what kind of error can be caused this, and a possible solution by remote or coming and trying to fix it, our customer is asking for a soon solution, please see the pictures below in this email, for the version, serial number and the message that appears on screen, have a nice day. Hello Ernesto., Has the fault persisted—has it reappeared after the parts cooled down? How many more times has this issue occurred? Remember, it is crucial not to load hot material into the machine, as the projector lenses can become contaminated, leading to 3D errors—just as is already happening with your other units. Hello Juan, Regarding your questions: yesterday and today, even after removing the camera cover and allowing the PCBs to cool down longer before entering the AOI, the issue appeared an average of three times per day. What I would like to clarify is whether cleaning the dirty lens and cooling the boards would also resolve the issue in our case, given that the error is strictly an Illumination Error and not a 3D Error (we are not getting any 3D errors at all). Additionally, regarding temperature: on our other AOI (model VT-S730-H, Serial No. 2352Y24-H3HA), the boards enter even slightly warmer, yet we do not experience this illumination error. Could you confirm if the root cause and countermeasure are indeed the same, or if this illumination issue should be handled through a different troubleshooting step? Looking forward to your reply. Have a great afternoon. ________________________________ J. Ernesto Olvera Service Engineer | MASS TRADING MEXICANA SA DE CV ________________________________ ? Tel: +52 ([phone] ? Email: [email] ? Hello Ernesto., The protection and components are different between the two machines. This excess temperature generates vaporization which, in the S730, is known to cause contamination; this is only a matter of prevention, they are different failures. Regarding the S1080 failure, we will escalate the issue to an inquiry with Japan, but based on the reduction in failures, everything seems to indicate that it is the temperature that is affecting the lighting module.
